Be it fresh meat crafted by our master butchers (such as McIntosh Donald and St. Merryn) or our famous brands (such as Rustler’s, Big Al’s and John Stone), we offer a total foodservice solution with the premium quality our customers demand.
Kepak McIntosh Donald are looking for a Butcher Shop Counter Assistant to join our team, working Tuesday-Saturday.
Role Purpose
To assist in the excellent customer service delivery and experience of the Shop, promoting our brand, understanding our products, and offering guidance and recommendations on products whilst complying with relevant food safety and hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently take customer orders
- Prepare food to required standards checking for taste, presentation, and quality
- Maintain relevant records
- Minimize product wastage
- Maintain required hygiene standards in all areas of the shop, including regular deep cleans
- Any other duties as required by management and within the competency of the post holder
- Provide guidance and recommendations on products (how to cook, type of cuts etc)
- Identify upselling opportunities
- Positively contribute to Shop weekly sales targets
- Process orders through till correctly
- Restock fresh meat and pre-prepared counters with products
- Undertake stock checks and rotations as required
- Complete opening and closing procedures of Shop
- Complete and maintain hygiene standards and processes for counters, Shop, and food preparation areas
- Undertake food preparation duties, such as preparing burgers to recipe, dicing meat, preparing marinades etc
- Ensure all food preparation is carried out in accordance with food hygiene procedures

Requirements
- Experience in food-based customer service
- Butchery experience is essential
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiating skills essential
- Commitment to good practice and hygiene
- Manual handling ability and awareness
- Communicates well in written and oral form with multi-nationals on all levels
- Ability to multitask and work under own initiative to deliver to deadlines
- Relationship builder with influencing skills
- Strong team player
