We’re now looking for a friendly and experienced Counter Sales professional to join our team at our Camden branch.
The Role
As a Counter Sales colleague, you’ll be an important point of contact for our customers, providing knowledgeable advice and helping them find the right timber, building, fencing and landscaping products for their needs.
Working as part of a busy branch team, you’ll support customers at the trade counter, process sales accurately and work closely with colleagues across the branch to deliver an excellent customer experience.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Serving customers at the trade counter in a friendly, professional and helpful manner
- Understanding customer requirements and recommending suitable products and solutions
- Preparing accurate quotations, sales orders and invoices
- Processing customer payments and maintaining accurate transaction records
- Developing strong relationships with trade and retail customers
- Responding to customer enquiries in person, by telephone and by email
- Working closely with the yard, warehouse, transport and sales teams to coordinate customer orders
- Checking product availability, pricing and delivery requirements
- Supporting the branch team with stock checks, order preparation and customer collections
- Identifying opportunities to promote additional products and services
- Handling customer queries and resolving issues promptly and professionally
- Following all company processes, including health and safety, cash handling and customer service procedures

What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is customer-focused, commercially aware and confident communicating with a wide range of people. You’ll take pride in delivering excellent service and be comfortable working in a busy trade counter environment.
You’ll need:
- Previous experience in counter sales, trade sales, retail sales, customer service or a similar environment
- Experience within a builders’ merchant, timber merchant, hardware, construction or landscaping environment is essential
- Good knowledge of timber, building, fencing or landscaping products
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A confident and professional approach to serving customers
- Good numeracy and attention to detail when processing orders and payments
- The ability to build strong customer relationships and identify sales opportunities
- Good computer skills and the ability to learn product and sales systems
- A positive, reliable and hardworking approach
- The ability to work effectively as part of a busy branch team
- A strong commitment to health and safety and excellent customer service
- Flexibility to support the needs of the branch

Working Hours, Salary & Benefits
- ⏰ Working hours: Monday–Friday between 07:30–17:00, plus 1 in 2 Saturdays from 08:00–12:00
- 💎 Salary: Competitive salary, dependent on experience (£30,175 - £32,000)
