About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Domestic Abuse and Interpersonal Violence Team as we expand our existing service provision. The service is currently extending its portfolio of work to include a team who oversee counterterrorist and PREVENT activities. We are currently recruiting to a Counter Terrorism and PREVENT team manager to oversee the statutory information requests from the Counter-Terrorist Unit (CTU) and to manage a team of 3 specialist staff who will provide direct support to Trust staff and their families where children are vulnerable to radicalisation and terrorism.
The role also requires attendance at MAPPA (multi-agency public protection arrangements) TACT (Terrorism Act) panels to share information and ensure robust safety planning for children and young people as offenders are released from prison and managed in the community.
You will work alongside the service in delivering excellent specialist support to children, young people and their families and supporting staff in the Trust. You will also be required to work collaboratively across the partnership to safeguard children and young people effectively.
You will receive a full induction and the opportunity to access ongoing professional development and training.
We have been rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted, following a 2023 inspection. This is a fantastic achievement for Birmingham Children's Trust, with many positive highlights focusing on areas including the quality of staff leadership, partnership working, safeguarding and corporate parenting.
This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham so you must have the correct right-to-work documents to work in the UK. Sadly, we do not support those who require sponsorship.
About You
You will need to be organised, methodical and able to prioritise work independently. An understanding of counter terrorism and PREVENT is essential and work experience within safeguarding children and adults is also required. Management experience is desirable. You will also need to be able to develop recording systems, capture data and write progress reports.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
