About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic UK focused Business Head to lead and grow its generics and branded generics business in the UK. This role carries full P&L accountability and will focus on building commercial performance, expanding the portfolio through in licensing, and strengthening pricing, customer relationships and profitable growth. The core emphasis is on UK generics sales, marketing and commercial development. Operational and regulatory tasks are coordination only.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the UK generics and branded generics business with clear ownership of sales, pricing, margin delivery and portfolio expansion.
  • Drive commercial performance through strong relationships with wholesalers, pharmacy chains and national partners.
  • Identify, negotiate and secure in licensing opportunities to broaden the UK portfolio.
  • Deliver the National Business Plan including forecasting, target setting and performance management.
  • Monitor UK market dynamics, pricing shifts, tender opportunities and competitor activity to shape commercial strategy.
  • Conduct regular customer visits and engage NHS decision makers to secure sustainable commercial wins.
  • Collaborate with corporate teams in India to progress UK opportunities and support new product introductions.
  • Prepare and present regular performance updates to senior leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with UK regulations and uphold the highest ethical standards.
  • Coordinate with supply chain, QA and regulatory teams to ensure smooth operations.

About the Client

Our client is a fully integrated pharmaceutical company, established in 1936 and recognised as a global leader in Oral Rehydration Salts and Ophthalmics. With world class manufacturing and a portfolio of over 300 products, the company serves patients in more than 50 countries. Innovation, quality and access to healthcare are central to its mission.

The person / experience

  • Ten years plus of senior level commercial leadership in UK pharmaceuticals, ideally with generics or branded generics.
  • Clear track record of growing UK P&L, improving pricing and margin, and delivering profitable, sustainable sales growth.
  • Direct experience of UK customer engagement including wholesalers, pharmacy chains and national buying points.
  • Strong understanding of UK generics market dynamics including supply, pricing and product lifecycle.
  • UK based commercial operator with hands on ownership rather than European or purely strategic roles.
  • Commercially astute, analytical and entrepreneurial with a builder mindset.
  • Excellent communicator and negotiator, confident operating at senior levels.
  • Must be based within reasonable commuting distance of Southampton with flexibility for office and field work.
  • Advantage but not essential: eligibility to act as Deputy Responsible Person.
