Role Description
The Course Leader Health and Social Care is a full-time, on-site role based at Redcar & Cleveland College in Redcar. This role involves planning, delivering, and reviewing Health and Social Care courses, ensuring that teaching, learning, and assessment are engaging, inclusive, and aligned with curriculum and regulatory requirements. The Course Leader will coordinate course timetables, manage learner progress, provide academic guidance, and support pastoral needs to promote achievement and retention.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Preparing teaching materials
- Assessing and recording learner performance
- Liaising with colleagues and external partners
- Contributing to course development and quality improvement
- Participating in meetings, moderation activities, and events that support recruitment, progression, and strong employer and community links
Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in Health and Social Care (e.g., degree, level 5 or above, or equivalent professional qualification)
- Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent)
- Strong curriculum planning, course leadership, and assessment skills, including the ability to design schemes of work and effective learning resources
- Knowledge of current Health and Social Care practices, legislation, and standards, with the ability to embed industry relevance and employability skills
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills to support diverse learners and work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders
- Organisational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage workloads, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records and reports
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion, and to promoting a safe, respectful learning environment for all learners
- Competence in using digital tools and learning technologies to enhance teaching, assessment, and learner engagement
- Experience of quality assurance processes, such as internal verification, moderation, and participation in inspections or audits, is advantageous
- Experience working in health or social care settings and maintaining professional links with employers is beneficial
