About The Role
Leeds City College are looking for an experienced and passionate Course Leader to lead our Culinary Skills courses within the School of Travel, Food and Drink, based at our Printworks campus.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious school with exceptional facilities, strong industry connections and a real commitment to developing the next generation of hospitality professionals.
As Course Leader, you will play a key role in leading and developing our Culinary Skills courses, ensuring learners receive the best possible experience, achieve their potential and are fully prepared for their next steps. You will work closely with teaching staff, learners and industry partners to ensure our courses remain engaging, ambitious and connected to the world of work.
A particularly exciting part of this role will be helping to drive forward our new Student Academy Restaurant at Printworks Campus. The restaurant will provide learners with valuable opportunities to develop their skills in a professional environment, gain real industry experience and showcase their talents to customers and employers. As Course Leader, you will have an important role in shaping how the restaurant supports and enhances the learner experience and becomes a key part of our Culinary Skills provision.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with young people and helping them develop into confident, skilled and professional individuals. You will have high expectations, take pride in the quality of the learner experience and be motivated by seeing learners progress and succeed.
With access to industry-standard facilities, the new Student Academy Restaurant and strong links with employers and industry professionals, this is a fantastic opportunity to shape an exciting area of the curriculum and make a real difference to the future careers of our learners.

What You Will Do
- Lead and develop the Culinary Skills courses, ensuring they are well organised, ambitious and provide an outstanding experience for all learners.
- Provide strong course leadership, working closely with teaching staff to maintain high standards of teaching, learning, assessment and learner support.
- Monitor learner progress, attendance, retention and achievement, taking action where needed to ensure learners are supported to reach their full potential.
- Create an exciting and engaging curriculum that develops the technical, practical and professional skills learners need to succeed within the culinary and hospitality industry.
- Drive forward industry engagement and employer links, creating meaningful opportunities for learners to gain insight, experience and connections within the sector.
- Help shape and develop the new Student Academy Restaurant at Printworks Campus, ensuring it becomes an integral part of the Culinary Skills curriculum and provides learners with authentic industry experience.
- Champion high expectations and professional standards, ensuring learners develop the confidence, behaviours and skills expected within the hospitality industry.
- Contribute to the continued development of the curriculum, responding to industry trends, employer feedback and the changing needs of learners and the sector.
- Build a positive course culture, where learners feel supported, challenged and motivated to succeed.

About You
We are looking for someone who is passionate, ambitious and committed to making a difference to the lives and future careers of young people.
You will be an experienced professional who understands the culinary and hospitality industry and can bring your knowledge, enthusiasm and industry experience into the classroom and wider course environment.
You Will Be Someone Who
- Has experience of leading or coordinating a course or curriculum area, with a strong understanding of what makes an excellent learner experience.
- Is passionate about Culinary Skills and the hospitality industry, with the knowledge and enthusiasm to inspire the next generation of professionals.
- Has high expectations of learners and colleagues, and is committed to achieving strong outcomes.
- Builds positive and effective relationships with learners, colleagues, employers and industry partners.
- Is confident in using data and information to identify priorities, monitor progress and drive improvement.
- Is organised, proactive and able to manage the demands of a busy course leadership role.
- Is committed to creating real-world learning experiences that prepare learners for employment, apprenticeships and further study.
- Has the creativity and ambition to help us develop our new Student Academy Restaurant and maximise the opportunities it provides for learners.
- Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team and is willing to contribute to the wider success of the School of Travel, Food and Drink.
