Considers education as a concept and practice influenced by values (ethical, religious, aesthetic, cultural, political, etc.). Includes a critical examination of selected approaches to values education. This course is not Team Taught or offered online.

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs)
Education
- Master educator with an MA in a relevant field (e.g. philosophy of education, moral and/or political philosophy, educational ethics)
- Experience as an educator in the pre-K to graduation or higher education sectors is an asset
- PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset
Experience
- Expert knowledge of:
- Main philosophical theories of ethics, political philosophy and value theory – including but not limited to those from Western analytic and continental philosophical traditions, such as: moral philosophy, social and political philosophy, aesthetics, feminist philosophy, critical philosophy of race and the philosophy of religion
- Traditions and approaches that apply philosophical theories of ethics to questions and problems of educational theory, practice and policy, including consequentialist and non-consequentialist theories of ethics
- The field of educational ethics and associated methodologies such as normative case studies
- Familiarity with contemporary theoretical approaches that employ interdisciplinary perspectives on moral education (e.g. philosophy and developmental psychology; non-ideal ethical theory).

Other
- Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the graduate level.
- Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion
- Familiarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences
- Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset
- Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools
Additional Requirements
- Commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors.
- Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of course start date
