EDES 453. Teaching Secondary Mathematics 2.
Description: This course supplements EDES 353 for students who select Mathematics as a single teachable subject. Evaluation of learning in Mathematics, obstacles to learning, technological aids to learning. This course is not team taught or offered online.

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRS)
Education
- MA in a relevant field (i.e., mathematics education) and/or extensive relevant experience as a school educator/teacher/pedagogue/community educator
- PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset
Experience
- Expert knowledge of:
- Secondary mathematics pedagogy, as outlined in the course description
- Mathematics content and practices related to secondary mathematics curricula
- Research on secondary mathematics pedagogy
- Research on secondary students’ mathematical thinking and practice
- Experience as a master teacher/instructor in mathematics, science, or a related field in the Quebec educational system
- Knowledge of Quebec Education Program (QEP)
- Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation

- Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level
- Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Familiarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences
- Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset
- Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools
- Familiarity of and/or experience with practice-based pedagogies in mathematics teacher education is an asset.

Requirements include:
- Commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors
- Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of course start date
