Course Number-Section and Title (CRN): EDPE 555-001/002/003 Socio-Cultural Foundations of Learning Sciences (CRNs: 3001/3002/3003)
Course Description: Examination of foundational theories of the Learning Sciences including contributions by social constructivist theories. Implications of theory on methodologies for the Learning Sciences in general, and for educational and instructional contexts in particular.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:
Education: PhD holders or candidates (ABD) in Learning Sciences, Educational Psychology, Applied Psychology, or equivalent.

Experience required:
- Experience as a course instructor or TA for courses at a similar level
- Demonstrated knowledge of modern and seminal social-cultural theories underpinning Learning Science as evidenced by completed courses, research output, TA work, or course instruction.
- Scholarship in the Learning Sciences an asset
- Knowledge of modern and seminal methods common to the Learning Sciences an asset
Other requirements:
- If the applicant has taught this course exactly once previously, she/he must have had satisfactory teaching evaluations in this course that meet the Department’s expectations. This requirement does not apply to applicants who have taught the course at least twice.
- If the applicant has not taught this course previously, but has taught in the hiring unit previously, she/he must have had satisfactory teaching evaluations that meet the Department’s expectations.
- Adherence to evolving program requirements concerning course content and program-developed competencies; course content and references must reflect the most current advances in the field
