Description
Designed to develop academic and professional communication in education, both oral and written. Tailored to the needs of future ESL teachers in Quebec. Exposure to different professional and social situations via role playing, problem-solving, and various oral and written interactions in French and/or English as appropriate.
This course is not team taught or offered online.

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs)
Education
- Master’s degree in Second Language Education or related field (in exceptional circumstances applicants without a Master’s degree but with significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered)
- Teaching degree or equivalent
Experience
- Expert knowledge of course content as per McGill current Course Catalogue course description including:
- Expertise in developing effective professional communication in both English and French as required and expected of ESL teachers in French school contexts in Quebec.
- Knowledge of the Quebec Education program (QEP)
- Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified in the Ministère de l’Éducation
- Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) to pre-service teachers
- Experience teaching ESL in the Quebec elementary/secondary French school system
