Court of Protection Paralegal — Position Overview
Work with a team of partners, solicitors and paralegals in the Court of Protection department
- Assist in the provision of administrative and legal services for clients
- Attend clients at hospitals, care homes and in their own homes
- Work under the supervision of a Partner, receiving cases from across the team
- Continue to develop your legal ability
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting in the provision of administrative and legal services for clients
- Assisting in the provision of legal advice under supervision and taking notes in client meetings
- Attending clients at hospitals, care homes and in their homes
- Making regular payments to clients, keeping accurate schedules, forecasting spending and creating budgets
- Managing written and telephone correspondence with clients, solicitors and third parties professionally and confidentially
- Producing plain English letters, witness statements, court applications and other documents
- Delegating and supervising tasks where appropriate and maintaining client care standards

Requirements
- A degree in Law and previous Court of Protection experience is preferred but not essential
- Good Microsoft skills, particularly Word and Excel, and the ability to work with figures
- Able to work to tight deadlines and work well under pressure
- Organised, with the ability to prioritise
- A flexible and proactive approach with a 'can do' attitude
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills with a good customer focus
