Court of Protection Senior Associate | Top-tier Legal 500
Location: London - hybrid
Salary: Competitive
PQE: 5+
Join one of the UK's leading Court of Protection teams.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Court of Protection lawyer to join a highly regarded specialist team as a Senior Associate. The team provides a dedicated deputyship and trust service to clients across the UK, including adults and children with serious brain injuries and elderly clients who lack capacity to manage their own property and financial affairs. It sits within one of the UK's leading Personal Injury and Medical Negligence departments, so you'll work on high-quality, high-value and often complex matters, including substantial post-settlement deputyships.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing a substantial caseload of complex Court of Protection property and affairs matters, both pre- and post-settlement
- Acting as or supporting professional deputies, and advising lay deputies, attorneys, clients and families on Court of Protection issues
- Preparing and progressing applications to the Court of Protection, including deputyship, statutory will, gifting and other complex applications
- Setting up and managing Personal Injury Trusts, including acting as professional trustee
- Managing high-value deputyship estates, including budgeting, investment matters, property purchases and adaptation projects
- Working closely with the firm's Personal Injury and Medical Negligence teams on litigated and settled cases
- Liaising with case managers, financial advisers, therapists, care providers and other professionals involved in clients' support networks
- Attending client meetings, including visits to clients' homes, hospitals, rehabilitation settings and care facilities
- Drafting applications, witness statements, annual deputy reports and correspondence
- Supervising and developing junior lawyers and paralegals
- Contributing to business development, networking and the team's profile in the Court of Protection sector

ABOUT YOU
- Qualified Solicitor with significant Court of Protection experience, ideally 6+ years' PQE, gained in an established Court of Protection department
- Experience managing complex professional deputyships and Personal Injury Trusts
- Strong knowledge of Court of Protection procedure and deputyship administration
- Experience supervising junior team members
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with vulnerable clients and their families
- A genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable individuals and delivering excellent client care
