About The Role
A Court of Protection Solicitor is sought for a full-time, hybrid role in Hampshire, offering £65,000 to £75,000 dependent on experience. The successful candidate, with two to five years’ post-qualification experience, will join a Legal 500-ranked team. Duties include managing clients’ affairs, serving as primary contact for families and third parties, and handling Deputyship and Personal Injury Trust matters. The solicitor will oversee a caseload, ensuring compliance with OPG Deputyship Standards. This position suits someone keen to build specialist expertise within a collaborative setting while taking on varied, complex work.
The Role
You will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of clients’ affairs, acting as a key point of contact for clients, their families and other third parties. Working across both Deputyship and Personal Injury Trust matters, you will manage your own caseload and ensure that all matters are handled efficiently and in accordance with OPG Deputyship Standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing routine and non-routine applications to the Court of Protection
- Drafting witness statements and supporting documentation
- Assisting with the preparation of expert witness statements and OPG Reports
- Playing an active role in the development of team policies and processes
- Mentoring and training junior colleagues and delegating work where appropriate
- Providing assistance to senior members of the team on more complex matters
- Contributing to the effective management and progression of client affairs

The Candidate
Applications are welcomed from qualified Solicitors with 2–5 years’ PQE and experience in Court of Protection work, ideally with exposure to Deputyship and/or Personal Injury Trust matters. You will have experience managing your own caseload and a good working knowledge of OPG Deputyship Standards. STEP qualification (or working towards it) would be highly advantageous.
You will have:
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- The ability to manage a busy workload, meet deadlines, and communicate progress effectively
- Sound judgement and the confidence to take responsibility while recognising when matters should be referred to senior colleagues
- An interest in business development and contributing growth of the team, including through social media and other channels
