Solicitor (NQ–3 PQE) – Court of Protection (Property & Financial Affairs)

Location: Swindon (Hybrid Working)

Join one of the UK's leading Court of Protection teams

A new opportunity has arisen for a Solicitor (NQ–3 PQE) to join a nationally recognised Court of Protection team. Ranked by both Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500, the team is one of the largest specialist Court of Protection practices in the UK, managing Deputyships and Trusts for hundreds of clients.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious solicitor looking to build a long-term career in Court of Protection work. You'll work alongside recognised specialists, gain exposure to high-quality and often complex matters, and work within a supportive and collaborative team.

The Role

You'll play a key role in supporting vulnerable clients, their families and professional support networks by assisting with the management of Property and Financial Affairs Deputyships and Personal Injury Trusts.

Working closely with experienced Partners, Deputies and legal professionals, you'll gradually develop your own caseload while receiving excellent mentoring and supervision.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the management of Property and Financial Affairs Deputyship matters.
  • Managing your own caseload under appropriate supervision.
  • Preparing Court of Protection applications and annual Deputy Reports.
  • Supporting the day-to-day management of clients' financial affairs, including budgeting, payments and property transactions.
  • Assisting with the administration of Personal Injury Trusts.
  • Liaising with clients, families, case managers, healthcare professionals and other professional contacts.
  • Working collaboratively with paralegals, litigators and external professionals.
  • Attending client meetings and visits where appropriate.
  • Developing expertise in areas including statutory wills, care funding and benefits.
  • Contributing to business development initiatives and helping build long-term client relationships.

Requirements

We're keen to hear from qualified Solicitors who are passionate about delivering exceptional client care and developing a specialist career in Court of Protection.

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with NQ–3 PQE.
  • Experience in, or a genuine interest in, Court of Protection Property & Financial Affairs work.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with empathy and professionalism when working with vulnerable clients.
  • Strong drafting, organisational and analytical abilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to prioritise effectively and manage competing deadlines.
  • A collaborative approach with a willingness to learn from experienced colleagues.
  • Experience using case management systems and recording time.
