Opportunity: Court of Protection Solicitor/Lawyer

Location: Reading (Hybrid and Flexible Working)

Salary: £85,000 + Bonus + Great Benefits!

If you're an experienced Court of Protection solicitor looking for a role where you have actual influence over the direction of a growing team, this opportunity is one to explore!

I'm working with a highly regarded firm on a senior opportunity within its well-established Court of Protection team, ranked highly in both The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners.

The team has a particularly strong reputation for acting for clients with substantial compensation awards, often working closely with the firm's Clinical Negligence team. You'll handle complex matters across both litigation and post-settlement work, while building long-term relationships with clients and professional referrers.

This role is also a leadership opportunity - alongside managing your own caseload, you'll act as a professional deputy and/or trustee and as a director of the firm's trust corporation, contribute to the team's future direction and play an important role in mentoring and developing junior lawyers!

There's plenty of variety too - from complex best interests decisions and statutory wills to annual reviews, investment meetings and site/adaptation visits across England and Wales. You'll be able to contribute to business development, process improvement and wider team projects as the department continues to grow.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You'll need to enjoy working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, have an interest in developing others and be comfortable building relationships with clients and professional referrers.

What Is on Offer?

  • Private medical insurance
  • Life assurance at 5x final salary
  • Pension

  • Season ticket travel loan
  • Dog-friendly office
  • Social committee events

The firm has a friendly, forward-thinking and collaborative culture, with a strong focus on development and giving people the opportunity to build careers on their terms. It's a particularly good fit for someone who wants to combine high-quality CoP work with leadership, mentoring and the chance to help shape a growing team.
