Job Summary

At Bede's, we pride ourselves on maintaining world-class grounds and sporting facilities for our pupils. To ensure our outdoor operations remain seamless during a critical operational window, we are seeking a skilled and reliable Grounds Mechanic to join our Estates team on a temporary cover basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance & Repair: Service and repair a diverse fleet, including tractors, commercial ride-on mowers, and arboricultural power tools.
  • Diagnostics: Promptly troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
  • Compliance: Maintain accurate, audit-ready service logs and safety records (PUWER/COSHH).
  • Safety & Support: Keep a clean, safe workshop and guide grounds staff on daily pre-use machinery checks.

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven experience as a mechanic working with agricultural, turf care, or commercial grounds machinery.
  • Strong diagnostic skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to hit the ground running independently with minimal handover.
  • Immediate or short-notice availability for the duration of the contract.

This is a Full Time, temporary position, working 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday from 7.00am - 4.00pm with an unpaid 1 hour break per day.

We will be offering an attractive salary of £41,730.01 per annum along with a range of staff benefits including:
