Job Description
We require an enthusiastic individual who can work within the Portering Services team at the Northern General Hospital and offer flexibility to cover all Portering related tasks including Charge-hand and driving duties.
- The transfer of patients from all wards and departments, in beds, wheelchairs or stretchers or via the internal Ambulance NGH ONLY, making sure the patient is secure to travel.
- Move patients with assistance and instruction from professional staff. This includes the occasional movement of patients with valuables under the supervision of the nursing staff.
- Transfer deceased patients to Mortuary, ensuring all equipment is clean after use.
- Removal of waste from all departments and wards.
- Postal duties.
- Assist with viewing out of hours when requested by Duty Matron.
- Driving duties plus - Check and clean vehicles as instructed.
- Laundry collection / delivery.
- Sharpsmart deliveries / collection.
- Act under instruction from medical/nursing staff in the event of a cardiac arrest or other emergencies i.e. Fire Alert.
