Secondary Cover Supervisor: Ipswich and Surrounding Areas

We are currently partnering with a prominent network of secondary schools, academies, and high schools in Ipswich and across the wider Suffolk area. We are experiencing high demand for confident, adaptable Cover Supervisors to oversee classes across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 during teacher absences.
This role is ideal for graduates, aspiring secondary teachers, sports coaches, youth workers, or experienced classroom support staff who possess strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to manage a classroom environment effectively.

Long:Term Opportunities

- This is the perfect way to become an integral part of a school community, build strong rapport with students, and develop robust classroom management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise prepared cover lessons across various subject areas, ensuring students remain focused, on:task, and working productively.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively using the schools established behaviour policies and reward systems.
- Create a safe, positive, and purposeful learning environment where students feel supported.
- Assist students with any general questions regarding the set work and keep them engaged throughout the period.
- Collect completed work at the end of the lesson and pass on clear notes/feedback to the regular class teacher.
What We Look For
- Prior experience working with young people or teenagers (e.g., in schools, youth work, sports coaching, tutoring, or care settings).
- Strong presence, confidence, and natural classroom management abilities.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem:solving skills.
- A proactive, adaptable attitude with the ability to build quick rapport with secondary pupils.
- A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete one).
