About This Role

We are looking for a Cover Supervisor who will be involved mainly in the supervision of classes and to oversee the completion of work by students in the absence of the nominated teacher. The role is based on working 31.25 hours per week, term time plus 1 week (39 working weeks), working hours are 8.15am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday.

The responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor are varied, and a wide variety of skills are required. Good interpersonal skills are required together with the ability to earn and maintain the respect of students and to ensure the appropriate codes of classroom behaviour are observed. Applicants for this post must be enthusiastic and possess a determined character, together with a positive approach to working with young people and the ability to set clear guidelines for them.

There are many opportunities for career progression as a Cover Supervisor from becoming a Cover Manager, through to becoming a qualified teacher.

About You

We are looking for an organised and calm person, able to work under pressure to deliver excellent results within set deadlines.

You will have;

  • good numeracy, literacy and IT skills
  • the ability to communicate effectively and relate well with students and staff
  • the ability to work constructively as part of a team and have an understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities
  • the ability to encourage students to learn and inspire a strong work ethic and be able to manage students behaviour and challenge under performance
