Cover Tutor Location: HMP Fosse Way, Leicester, LE18 4TNSalary: £28,000 – £34,000 (depending on experience) Schedule: 40 hours per week, permanent

As a Cover Tutor in our HMP Fosse Way team, you’ll support learners across a wide range of vocational subjects, equipping them with skills and qualifications to secure opportunities for their futures. Your role ensures continuity in learning—stepping in where needed to provide high-quality instruction, guidance, and Motivation for every learner’s journey.
This role is instrumental in fostering confidence, securing meaningful qualifications, and preparing people for successful futures post-custody. Your dedicated efforts create meaningful change for individuals, families, and communities alike.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll be entrusted with delivering and supporting in the following areas:

Teaching vocational subjects, including:
- Horticulture
- Industrial Cleaning
- Gym & Fitness Instruction
- Hospitality Enterprise
- Creative Craft – Textiles
- Health and Nutrition
- Fire Safety
- Health and Safety
- Food Safety
- Vocational Assessing (TAQA Level 3)

Ensuring practical skills, knowledge, and professional behaviours align with course requirements.

Maintaining detailed records of:
- Attendance
- Progress and achievements
- Assessments
- Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)

Providing constructive feedback, encouragement, and tailored guidance to inspire learners.

Ensuring compliance with awarding-body standards and supporting the accreditation process.

Promoting safe working practices, including respect for tools, equipment, and shared spaces.

Who You Are
The ideal candidate will meet or surpass the following criteria:
- Minimum qualifications: Level 2 in Maths and English (or GCSE equivalent).
- Training experience: Proven ability to deliver training in education, workplace, or community settings.
- Qualifications (desirable but not essential):
- A teaching qualification (Level 3 Award in Education and Training).
- Assessing qualifications (TAQA Level 3).
- Flexibility: Comfortable adapting to varied teaching methods and curricula.
Support available: If you lack a teaching or assessing qualification, the team will assist you in achieving these during your probationary period.
Vetting & Checks
Before starting, you’ll need to complete:
- An Enhanced DBS check (including spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and police records).
- Occupational Health Questionnaire (to ensure your physical and mental well-being for the role).
