Ensure the efficiency of our Covert Authorities Bureau team

As Covert Authorities Bureau (CAB) Manager you will lead CAB staff in the prioritisation and actioning of tasks related to the Investigatory Powers Act (IPA) and Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA), offering advice and guidance as the force lead in this area.

This role is Monday-Friday, with an occasional requirement to work on-call.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support regional Undercover (Covert Human Intelligence Sources) and Targeted Equipment Interference (TEI) inspections
  • To manage department workloads against critical and pressured time constraints, considering threat and risk in decision making
  • To provide first line supervision, management, and motivation of staff, ensuring the provision of the highest quality of service

The must haves

  • To have a degree-level qualification, or experience in a role requiring a similar level of skills
  • To have a good working knowledge of Investigatory Powers Act 2016 (IPA 2016), Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA 2000), Part III of The Police Act 1997 (PA 1997) and Criminal Procedures and Investigations Act 1996 (CPIA) and associated codes of practice
  • Experience of supervising a team of people where the ability to motivate, plan, implement and control tasks has been essential
