Company Description

Luke Evans Bakery Ltd is a long-established wholesale bakery, founded in 1804, supplying freshly baked bread and confectionery to the retail and catering trade. The bakery is known for using high-quality ingredients and traditional methods to produce consistent, reliable products. Skilled bakers work across day and night shifts to ensure items are baked and prepared to exacting standards. Products are delivered early each morning using the company’s own fleet of vans, helping customers serve fresh baked goods daily. The team values craftsmanship, reliability, and pride in providing excellent baked products to its customers.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Craft Baker role based at Luke Evans Bakery Ltd in Riddings. The Craft Baker will prepare, mix, and bake a range of breads, rolls, and confectionery using traditional and modern techniques, following established recipes and quality standards. Responsibilities include:

The role involves working as part of a production team to meet daily schedules, maintaining food safety and hygiene standards, and supporting continuous improvement in processes and product quality. The position may require early starts or shift work to support daily fresh production and delivery schedules.

Qualifications

  • Practical bakery skills, including experience in mixing, proofing, baking, and finishing bread and confectionery products.
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene regulations, and safe handling of ingredients and bakery equipment.
  • Attention to detail and quality, with the ability to follow recipes, production plans, and standard operating procedures accurately.
  • Physical capability to work on your feet for extended periods, handle bags of ingredients, and work in a warm bakery environment.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a cooperative approach to working in a busy production setting.
  • Previous experience as a baker, pastry chef, or in commercial food production is highly beneficial.
  • Relevant vocational training or qualifications in bakery, patisserie, or food production are an advantage.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and flexibility to work early mornings or shifts as required by production schedules.
