Crane Operator - Flying Squad

Permanent Contract

With our headquarters in Aberdeen, we employ over 1,600 people across numerous operational locations across the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.

We are currently recruiting for a Crane Operator to join our team on a permanent basis. The primary responsibility is to operate platform pedestal cranes under the direction of nominated platform personnel and in accordance with the authorised operators instructions manual and platform operating procedures, Company QA system, Standing Instructions.

Main responsibilities

  • Carrying out daily routine checks on the crane in accordance with the maintenance procedures and pre-start checklist.
  • Carrying out routine first line crane maintenance duties including greasing, lubrication, oil changes, filter changes and other crane machinery lubrication duties in accordance with the maintenance routines, manufacturers manuals and service charts.
  • Maintaining cranes in a clean, tidy and where applicable watertight condition, including cabs, machinery housings and external surfaces. External and internal paintwork should be retained in a corrosion free condition.
  • Assisting maintenance personnel in routine maintenance and repair activities.
  • Liaising on company/personal matters with Operations Manager or appropriate representative.
  • It is the responsibility of the incumbent to be fully familiarised with all Installation Safety and Emergency Procedures.
  • The incumbent is responsible for giving a detailed report of any crane incidents to the Operations Manager.

  • It is mandatory that the incumbent is familiar with the Company's HSEQ Policy and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Sparrows Integrated Management System. The incumbent must report any incidents, near misses, actual or potential problems with products, services or systems to their Line Manager.
  • The incumbent also has legal responsibilities under country-specific health and safety legislation to follow all Company processes and procedures and familiarise themselves with the emergency response arrangements applicable to them. The incumbent is also responsible for the health and safety arrangements of subordinates (if any) and for any persons visiting them while on the Company premises.

Qualifications and experience

  • Valid Offshore Certifications
  • Working at Height Unit 2
  • Stage 3 Crane Operator
  • Radio Operator Certification
  • Keystone/Titmus Eye Test
