Hours: 40 hours per week

We're looking for an experienced Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE) - Mechanical & Electrical to join our growing Infrastructure team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced M&E engineering professional to provide technical leadership, construction assurance and engineering governance across a diverse portfolio of rail infrastructure projects.
Reporting to the Senior Construction Manager
You'll play a vital role in ensuring mechanical and electrical works are planned, delivered, inspected, tested and accepted in accordance with approved designs, industry standards and safety requirements.

What You'll Be Doing
- Act as the nominated Mechanical & Electrical CRE for allocated projects and work packages.
- Provide engineering assurance throughout the construction phase of M&E infrastructure works.
- Oversee works relating to power distribution, lighting, containment, cabling, earthing and bonding, HVAC, ventilation, heating, plumbing and fire systems.
- Ensure construction teams have access to approved drawings, specifications, standards and technical information before works commence.
- Provide technical guidance and support to site teams throughout project delivery.
- Identify, manage and escalate engineering risks, constraints and technical interfaces.
- Coordinate engineering activities and interfaces across civils, signalling, telecoms, structural and architectural disciplines.
- Review construction methodologies, sequencing and delivery plans to ensure compliance and buildability.
- Work closely with Design CREs, CEMs and client representatives to resolve technical queries.
- Manage technical queries, engineering issues and design changes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support engineering reviews, constructability assessments and project readiness activities.
- Review work package plans, inspection and test plans, risk assessments and method statements from an engineering perspective.
- Confirm the suitability of materials, specialist equipment and subcontractor proposals.
- Support possession planning, isolations, critical work activities and delivery sequencing.
- Attend site during key project activities to provide engineering assurance and technical leadership.
- Ensure appropriate arrangements are in place for the safe installation, testing and commissioning of M&E systems.
- Review inspection records, test results, commissioning documentation and quality records to verify compliance.
- Support testing, commissioning, handback and project close-out activities.
- Promote a positive safety culture and challenge unsafe or non-compliant activities.
- Support investigations into engineering incidents, defects and non-conformances.
- Work collaboratively with subcontractors, designers, planners, commercial teams and client representatives to ensure successful project delivery.

What We're Looking For
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- HNC/HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Demonstrable experience delivering M&E engineering works within a rail infrastructure environment.
- Experience, competence or suitability for appointment as an M&E CRE-C.
- Strong understanding of Network Rail engineering assurance requirements, construction controls and M&E engineering standards.
- Good working knowledge of CDM Regulations, Work Package Plans, Inspection and Test Plans.
- Experience reviewing M&E methodologies, technical queries, design information, testing and commissioning documentation and handover records.
- Ability to communicate engineering requirements clearly to site teams, subcontractors, designers and clients.
- PTS certification where required.
- Appropriate CSCS card.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
