We're looking for an experienced CRE M&E (Contractor's Responsible Engineer - Mechanical & Electrical) to join our project delivery team in Leeds. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical and Electrical engineering professional to provide technical leadership, engineering assurance and construction support across major rail infrastructure projects.
Reporting to the Senior Construction Manager, you'll act as the nominated M&E CRE, ensuring works are planned, delivered, inspected, tested and commissioned in line with approved designs, engineering standards and project requirements. You'll provide the vital engineering link between project teams, designers, subcontractors and client representatives to ensure safe, compliant and efficient project delivery.

What You'll Be Doing
- Act as the nominated CRE for Mechanical and Electrical engineering construction activities.
- Provide engineering assurance across electrical systems, power distribution, lighting, containment, cabling, earthing and bonding.
- Support the delivery of HVAC, ventilation, heating, plumbing, fire systems and associated building services.
- Ensure construction teams have access to approved drawings, specifications, standards and technical information.
- Provide technical guidance and engineering leadership to delivery teams and subcontractors.
- Identify, manage and escalate engineering risks, constraints and interface issues.
- Review construction methodologies, sequencing plans and buildability considerations.
- Collaborate with Design CREs, client representatives and multidisciplinary project teams to resolve technical issues.
- Manage technical queries, engineering changes and construction-related engineering issues.
- Support possession planning, isolation planning, testing, commissioning and handback activities.
- Review inspection and test plans, risk assessments, method statements and permit requirements.
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, standards and specifications.
- Review commissioning documentation, quality records, technical submissions and handover information.
- Support the investigation and resolution of non-conformances and technical issues.
- Contribute to project reporting, lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.

What We're Looking For
- HNC, HND, degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Demonstrable experience delivering M&E works within rail infrastructure environments.
- Experience operating as, or suitability for appointment as, a CRE-C within project engineering management arrangements.
- Strong knowledge of Network Rail engineering assurance and construction standards.
- Good understanding of CDM Regulations and safe construction practices.
- Experience reviewing design information, technical queries, testing, commissioning and handover documentation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with project teams, subcontractors and clients.
- PTS certification where required by the project.
- Appropriate CSCS Card.
- Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or working towards professional registration.
- Previous appointment as a CRE-C on rail infrastructure projects.
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
- Temporary Works awareness or Temporary Works Coordinator qualification.
- Experience with depot environments and rail M&E systems.
- Experience of testing, commissioning, energisation and project handback activities.
