Job purpose:

As a CRE Sustainability Project Manager, you will play a key role in helping DHL Group achieve its sustainability and decarbonization ambitions across one of the world's largest real estate portfolios.

As part of the Group’s Sustainability Road Map (published 2021), there are explicit sustainability commitments relating to real estate. Corporate Real Estate has a responsibility to provide a Building Decarbonization Framework (formerly CNB) that enables delivery of commitments. The Sustainable Buildings Project Manager, part of the global sustainability team, will project manage defined components of the Building Decarbonization Framework, conduct technology assessments and support implementation of technologies to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency – with a focus on PV and heating decarbonization.

  • Support the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of DHL's global Building Decarbonization Framework ensuring alignment with DHL Group and divisional requirements. The framework defines an internal global standard for decarbonization & energy efficiency that is adopted by all divisions
  • Conduct market research and analysis of constantly evolving policies and legislation to ensure framework is relevant and compliant
  • Assess new technologies and solutions that can improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions across DHL facilities worldwide.
  • Drive process improvements to enable quicker and more accurate evaluation of technologies for greater deployment across the Group
  • Engage and upskill regional and country teams on the Building Decarbonization Framework, providing technical guidance and support in issue resolution
  • Maintain user guides and documents published and available to all Divisions, including supporting and contributing to training sessions

Solar PV and Heating Decarbonization assessments

  • Conduct technical and financial desktop assessments of solar PV and heating decarbonization opportunities across DHL properties.
  • Work with divisional colleagues to create assigned business cases for solar and low carbon heating infrastructure BCA approvals, including submissions at a Corp Board level. Typically, 20-30 business cases are completed a year
  • Support the implementation of solar PV and heating decarbonization projects, including updating the online tracker, overseeing progress and coordinating issue resolution

Desktop CNB Assessment for Business case approvals

  • Act as the primary contact and coordinate the desktop CNB assessments needed as part of Business Case Approvals (BCAs). This includes both assigning new assessments to team members, tracking progress, ensuring they are completed to required quality standard and coordinating issue resolution
  • Completing, with minimal supervision, a certain number of assigned desktop CNB assessments
  • Identification of process improvements and upskilling country colleagues

Your profile:

  • Degree in Sustainability, Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Management, Construction, Finance or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in sustainability, strategy development, renewable energy, building engineering, real estate sustainability, or a related area.
  • Strong interest in building decarbonization, solar PV, energy efficiency, and low-carbon technologies.
  • Experience managing projects and working with multiple stakeholders in an international environment.
  • Good understanding of sustainability principles, energy management, and climate-related challenges.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical and business data.
  • Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal English skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently in a global and virtual environment.
  • Passion for sustainability and driving meaningful environmental impact.
