Job objectives
The role of Creative Designer is fairly broad and involves working on a mixture of short and long-term projects as a key member of the Creative team. Short turnaround daily work involves creating motion graphics, maps, studio design elements (video wall and plasma images/graphics), website banners. Longer projects include creating graphic explainer videos (for on-air and online), making promotional videos and channel idents, creating branding for special projects - involving making title sequences, stings and set design.
Responsibilities
- The Creative Designer must design and execute high quality graphics and artwork in a multi-platform environment, working under the supervision of the Creative Director of CGTN Europe, as an integral member of the Creative Department.
- Liaise with news and programme producers on a daily basis and offer creative solutions to enhance editorial content.
- Assist the Senior Creative Designers with projects.
- Manage time effectively and foster good relations with members of other departments in the channel while adhering to strict deadlines.
- Work on a mixture of short and long-term projects as a key member of the Creative Department.
- Create motion graphics, maps, studio design elements (video wall and plasma images/graphics), website banners.
- Create graphic explainer videos (for on-air and online).
- Make promotional videos and channel idents.
- Create branding for special projects, involving making title sequences, stings and set design.

Required Skills
Person specification:
- Strong sense of typography, layout, and motion design.
- A keen eye for detail.
- Thorough knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects.
- Work closely with news and feature production teams in a multi-platform environment to meet daily deadlines and creative expectations.
- Team player, working as an essential part of the Creative Team.
- Professionally pitch creative concepts and ideas while understanding the operational and creative requirements of CGTN Europe.
- See ideas through to completion.
- Demonstrate a strong awareness of how to creatively enhance CGTN's online presence.
- Thrive under pressure, working to deadlines.
- Excel at work within a culturally and ethnically diverse staff.
Essential
- Graphic Design Degree or similar qualification (either BA or MA).
- Possess a portfolio demonstrating strong creative talent, both in conception and execution.
- 3+ years of work experience in broadcast or graphic/motion design.
- Must be proficient in Adobe Software; After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop.
Desirable
- Demonstrate an interest in news and current affairs.
- Knowledge of video editing using Adobe Premiere.
- Knowledge of Cinema 4D (MAXON).
- Experience working in Augmented Reality.
