The Creative Director is an influential creative leader of digital & direct mail work across the agency with primary focus on their specific client group. Their purpose is to inspire clients, Client Experience team members, and Creative team members with strategies, ideas, direction, innovation, and recommendations that produce the most effective fundraising solutions. The CD is responsible for overseeing the copywriting and art direction of direct response marketing materials. They must be a proven leader, effective communicator, and an exceptional motivator with a proven record of building strong relationships. The position provides leadership within their client group and the opportunity to develop innovative digital and direct mail creative strategies with impact across the agency.
The CD reports directly to the Executive Creative Director and is responsible for maintaining a creative practice for the Creative Group that is consistent with the creative development and management practices for RKD practices. They will direct/mentor full-time creative staff to ensure the highest quality output.
They have strong communication and presentation skills, conceptual and strategic abilities, branding and brand building strategy experience, and a mastery of fundraising best practices. They have focused knowledge of digital direct response techniques, in addition to some direct mail knowledge. The CD assists in the development of new business pitch materials.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The CD will lead the creative teams of RKD’s Creative Group where they:
- Work closely with their team’s Group Creative Director to support the development of offer-focused, donor-centric, insight-driven, digital creative solutions.
- Conceptualize and develop innovative, best-in-class digital creative solutions reflective of client objectives, target audience, and unique selling propositions.
- Provide clear and concise creative direction to the team throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring all creative work aligns with brand guidelines, client objectives, and industry best practices.
- Work closely with clients to understand their needs, goals, and feedback, presenting creative ideas and strategies to clients, and incorporating their input to refine the campaigns.
- Staying updated on the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in digital marketing, design, and creative storytelling, implementing innovative approaches to enhance campaign effectiveness.
- Combine brand-building and fundraising best practices to produce results-oriented creative solutions that build and foster stronger relationships between our clients’ organizations and their prospects and supporters.
- Assist Client Experience and Sales in the positioning and promotion of concepts, strategies, executions, and other related elements of digital direct response materials to clients or potential clients.
- Provide creative team member oversight and professional development equally for both design and copy disciplines. Effectively mentor and grow individuals at varying levels of experience in the art and science of direct response fundraising.
- Travel as requested for sales efforts, creative presentation, client relationship-building, staff development.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Portfolio of creative examples that demonstrate excellent craft and innovative concepts
- Focused experience on digital creative execution
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Advertising, Fine Arts, or related fields
- PC or Mac proficient
- 10+ years’ experience in direct response fundraising for nonprofits preferred
- 5+ years’ experience working on accounts for national brands preferred (for-profit, non-profit, or both)
- Experience with best practices in offer development for direct response marketing
- Experience in concept development and campaign development
- Experience in creative development for digital media
- Proven success supervising staff
LOCATION: Remote.
Pay range expected for the position: $110,000 to $140,000 annually.
(The position level and compensation for this role will be determined based on the market location, experience, job skills, and qualifications of the candidate)
