Business Unit: Medical Communications
Location: London – hybrid (2 days per week)

Our scientific and strategic expertise help our clients make better decisions. We provide medical communication services, market access consulting and regulatory writing support with deep domain expertise to effectively navigate complex disease areas.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an exceptional Creative Director to lead and evolve the creative function across our Medical Communications business. This is a senior leadership role for someone who can combine strategic vision, scientific curiosity, storytelling and creative excellence to create communications that engage, inspire and drive behavioural change.
You will be a trusted advisor to clients, leading strategic conversations at the highest levels of pharmaceutical and biotechnology organisations. Working closely with senior client service, scientific, strategic and delivery colleagues, you will shape compelling programmes that transform complex scientific data into memorable and impactful experiences.
As a visible leader within Bioscript Group, you will drive creative innovation, contribute to business growth, lead and participate in high-profile pitches, facilitate workshops, and champion the ethical adoption of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, across healthcare communications.
Key Responsibilities
Senior Client Leadership
- Act as a senior strategic partner to pharmaceutical, biotechnology and healthcare clients.
- Build long-term relationships with senior Medical Affairs, Commercial, Market Access and R&D stakeholders.
- Provide executive-level counsel on communication strategy, scientific storytelling and omnichannel engagement.
- Lead creative workstreams for key accounts, ensuring programmes deliver measurable value and impact.
- Challenge client thinking constructively while maintaining trusted advisor status.
Creative Strategy and Scientific Storytelling
- Translate complex scientific concepts, clinical data and healthcare challenges into clear, compelling and differentiated communications.
- Develop innovative creative platforms, campaign concepts and visual narratives across a range of therapeutic areas.
- Elevate scientific content through outstanding storytelling, experience design and audience engagement.
- Ensure all creative outputs remain scientifically rigorous, strategically aligned and compliant with industry regulations.
- Partner with scientific and content teams to create best-in-class communication programmes.

Workshop Design and Facilitation
- Design and facilitate client workshops, insight-generation sessions and creative planning meetings.
- Create engaging environments that align cross-functional stakeholders around a shared vision.
- Use structured facilitation techniques to drive consensus, action and client buy-in.
Business Development and Growth
- Lead and contribute to pitches, proposals and new business opportunities.
- Shape persuasive strategic and creative responses to client briefs.
- Present confidently to senior client audiences and procurement teams.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing accounts through creative innovation and partnership.
- Contribute to the ongoing growth and market differentiation of the Bioscript Group offering.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate closely with senior colleagues across Client Services, Scientific Services, Strategic Planning, Data Insights and Digital.
- Support the development of integrated programmes spanning medical communications, education, publications, digital engagement and events.
- Mentor and inspire multidisciplinary creative teams.
- Foster a culture of curiosity, innovation and continuous improvement.
AI, Innovation and Emerging Technologies
- Act as a champion for innovation across healthcare communications.
- Identify and evaluate emerging technologies that can enhance creativity, efficiency and audience engagement.
- Guide the responsible adoption of AI-enabled tools across content creation, insight generation, visualisation and communication planning.
- Help develop frameworks and best practices for AI use that maintain scientific integrity, transparency and compliance.
- Explore new applications of technologies such as generative AI, predictive analytics, immersive experiences and data visualisation within healthcare communications.
- Educate clients and internal teams on the opportunities and limitations of AI in regulated environments.
About You
Essential
- 10+ years' experience in a creative, strategic communications or medical communications environment.
- Significant experience working within a healthcare, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical communications or scientific agency setting.
- Proven track record leading senior client relationships and influencing executive stakeholders.
- Demonstrable experience translating complex science into engaging communication programmes.
- Experience leading successful pitches and contributing to substantial business growth.
- Strong workshop design and facilitation experience.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across creative, strategic and scientific disciplines.
- Excellent presentation and storytelling skills.
- Strong understanding of healthcare communications, Medical Affairs and the pharmaceutical product lifecycle.
- Experience developing omnichannel communication strategies and integrated stakeholder engagement programmes.

Desirable
- Experience in oncology, immunology, rare disease or other specialist therapeutic areas.
- Experience working across global and regional healthcare markets.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and behavioural science.
- Experience incorporating AI, data-driven insights or digital innovation into communication programmes.
- Familiarity with healthcare compliance requirements, including ABPI, EFPIA, FDA and related regulatory frameworks.
- Degree in Life Sciences, Communications, Design, Marketing or a related field.
