About Surge
Surge is a social media music marketing agency powered by our industry-leading proprietary tech. We run networks of themed fan pages and edit accounts at scale, driving sounds into culture for major labels, independents and artists. Campaigns for artists including Tyla, Janet Jackson, Mumford & Sons, Jorja Smith, Chris Brown, Aitch, Shaboozey, & more.
We're a team of highly creative and innovative people working towards one goal: building the best social media content engine for the entertainment industry. We practise self-leadership, which means everyone here is treated as a leader, responsible for themselves and for the team's output. We promote internally before we recruit externally.
The Role
You'll lead creative strategy on our highest-priority campaigns. When a project comes in, you're the person who decides how it enters culture: which communities it belongs to, what formats will carry it, and what hooks will stop the scroll.
What you'll do
- Build creative strategies for client campaigns end to end: content formats, hook concepts, niche selection, theme page angles, lyric videos, and whatever the track actually needs
- Identify which sub-communities a record belongs in, and design a different activation for each one
- Read sound pages and tell the difference between a community forming and a community scattering, between real organic adoption and manufactured noise, and act accordingly
- Push back on label clients with specifics when the ask doesn't match what the data supports
- Set the creative bar for hooks and visual styles across the agency
- Find and adapt references and formats from across the market, then translate them into something that fits the client instead of copying it
- Track algorithm shifts, format changes and emerging platform behaviour, and move the strategy before competitors react to it
- Build a culture of real experimentation: test bold formats and unexpected angles, scale the bets that work fast, and kill the ones that don't just as fast
- Read performance data and feed it back into the next cycle

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Who you are
- You have deep, current, native fluency in music communities on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube Shorts. You don't just know sub-niches exist. You know how they behave differently, how they activate differently, and why a strategy that lands in one doesn't transfer to another
- You understand algorithm behaviour, format best practices and audience psychology specific to each platform, and you know how they differ
- You've done this enough times that it's pattern recognition, not analysis
- You're genuinely creative. You think laterally and pitch the idea nobody else in the room would have reached for
- You hold a position when you're right and drop it instantly when you're not
- You're comfortable owning outcomes without being managed into them

You shouldn't apply if
- You're married to your ideas or can't take creative criticism
- You don't work well under pressure or tight turnarounds
- You're currently committed to another full-time role or full-time study. This role requires your full availability
Logistics
The role is remote. As a team we regularly take long work trips together in nice locations (our last trips have been places like Barcelona, Bali, Kuala Lumpur) typically 2 to 4 weeks at a time, and we'd want you there for creative sprints with the core team. Ideally you enjoy travelling and can join.
High performers here gain scope, influence and strategic responsibility quickly.
