Moth is a quantum computing company pioneering the next era of media, entertainment and creativity.

We're looking for a Creative Technologist to join Moth Studios — the impact-driven creative arm of the business — to turn our research into applications, demos, and public-facing projects that people can use and experience. You'll build prototypes from Moth's research, develop them into finished applications and tools, and work directly with artists, partners, and our community to discover what quantum computing makes possible as a creative medium.

This role sits at the intersection of quantum research, engineering and creative practice. You'll move fluently between concept and implementation — comfortable working alongside researchers and engineers on one side, and shipping creative projects on the other. You don't need a quantum background, but you should be eager to learn and have a track record of getting hands-on with emerging technology.

What you'll do

  • Build rapid prototypes, demos, and experimental applications using Moth's core quantum technologies, repos and APIs.
  • Collaborate directly with artists, musicians, designers, and other creative partners to bring their ideas to life through hands-on technical development.
  • Extend internal tools and demos to support new creative apps, features, and workflows.
  • Stress-test new tools and techniques, and write clear, reproducible code that others can build on.
  • Explore untested use cases and translate speculative concepts into proofs-of-concept.
  • Develop bespoke software and pipelines to support creator-led projects (e.g. music generation, visual systems, interactive installations).
  • Work closely with internal Engineering and Research teams.
  • Stay attuned to emerging technologies (quantum, AI/ML, generative media, game engines) and identify their potential cultural applications.
  • Build work that lands with a range of audiences — from gamers to the quantum industry to people encountering quantum computing for the first time.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we're looking for

  • 3–5+ years' experience in creative technology, or a related role bridging creative practice and computation, with the confidence to move between different use cases, tools and contexts.
  • A strong audiovisual and conceptual sensibility, with the ability to speak to both creatives and technologists and translate between them.
  • A research-led, self-directed way of working — comfortable in fast-moving, exploratory and sometimes ambiguous settings, with the ability to take initiative and operate autonomously.
  • A bias toward shipping and iteration: you prototype quickly, get things in front of people, and build work that travels.
  • Programming fluency in at least one language (Python, C++, JavaScript/TypeScript), with the ability to work across multiple languages as needed.
  • Familiarity with generative AI and creative ML workflows (e.g. diffusion models, RNNs, transformers, audio-visual ML).
  • A portfolio showcasing experimental, artistic, or interdisciplinary projects — demonstrating creativity, technical skill, and originality.

What will set you apart

  • Exposure to quantum computing frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane) — or a genuine curiosity to learn them.
  • Experience with real-time or creative frameworks such as TouchDesigner, Unreal, Unity, Blender, three.js, or generative AI/ML tooling.
  • An established, active creative practice — exhibitions, performances, talks, teaching, writing, or projects that have had a public life.
  • Experience with audio/DSP, shader programming, or physical computing (Max/MSP, Pure Data, Arduino, Raspberry Pi).

Why Moth

This is a chance to help define how quantum-powered media is experienced in practice. We are building at the edge of technology and culture, alongside engineers, researchers and creatives who care deeply about what they are building. The problems are ambitious. The standards are high. The thinking is rigorous.

You won't be optimising an established product. You will be shaping how entirely new tools and applications are designed, tested and brought into the world. How our core technologies are interacted with — and understood — will be shaped, in part, by you.

If you are energised by complexity, motivated by technical depth and excited by the idea of building systems that do not yet exist, this is the place to do it.
