About the role

Due to an internal restructure, an exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 experienced Credit Administrators to join our Retail team.

Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for processing customer credit applications, covering a diverse range of customers from Independent Retailers, Multi-Site Retailers, Forecourts, Fascia Branded Retailers, and National Account Groups.

The role will involve supporting the Credit Administration function across the Retail business, ensuring new customer applications, closure of accounts, credit limit increases, and customer master data account changes are processed accurately, efficiently, and within agreed timescales.

You will be responsible for

  • Process new customer applications accurately and efficiently, ensuring all required documentation and information is complete and meets the required standards before processing.
  • Identify errors or missing information on customer applications and email customers directly to resolve these before applications are processed.
  • Carry out credit checks on new and existing customers in line with company policy, escalating any limits that are not supported by Credit Reference Agencies for Management/Director approval.
  • Open all customer accounts in accordance with fascia agreement.
  • Monitor and manage changes to customer credit limits & payment terms, ensuring all relevant checks and approvals are complete.
  • Contact customers by phone to obtain and verify Direct Debit information.
  • Accurately record & amend Direct Debit information on SAP in accordance with BACS rules.
  • Checks and amendments around customer direct debits on our integrated payment platform.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer account records.
  • On a rota basis, you will provide secondary Audit Controls around all new application packs ensuring no errors.
  • Work closely with Branches/Depots, Sales teams, Operations, and Customer Service to resolve queries and ensure applications are progressed efficiently.

You will need

  • Previous experience in a Credit Administration, Finance Administration, or Customer Administration environment, with experience handling customer account information and documentation.
  • Good understanding of the importance of confidentiality, accuracy, and maintaining appropriate customer records.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to accurately process financial and customer information.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload and consistently meet deadlines and agreed SLAs.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, demonstrating determination, initiative, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate confidently and professionally with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong customer service skills, with a professional and helpful approach when dealing with customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently, using initiative to identify and resolve issues while knowing when to escalate.
  • Experience using SAP would be advantageous.
