Credit Analyst – Excel Capital

About Excel Capital

Excel Capital is a business finance firm supporting SMEs with access to a range of funding solutions. We combine technology, financial analysis, and a practical understanding of businesses to help assess funding opportunities efficiently and provide clients with appropriate financing options.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Credit Analyst to join our team and play a key role in reviewing and assessing business funding applications.

The Role

As a Credit Analyst, you will be responsible for analysing funding applications and building a clear picture of each business's financial position, affordability, and overall credit risk.

You will review financial information, bank transaction data, and supporting documentation, identify potential risks or inconsistencies, and prepare applications for credit and underwriting decisions.

The role requires strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and the confidence to make well-reasoned credit recommendations while working in a fast-paced environment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Desirable

  • Experience within unsecured SME lending, working-capital finance, merchant cash advances, or alternative business finance would be particularly useful, as would previous exposure to open-banking data or lending platforms.

Why Excel Capital?

You will join a growing team where you will have meaningful involvement in the credit process and the opportunity to work directly with real SME funding applications from an early stage.

The role offers exposure across credit analysis, underwriting, financial technology, and SME lending, with the opportunity to take on greater responsibility as the business continues to grow.
