Credit Analyst

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for a Credit Analyst to join the EMEA Credit Research team in London. You will be responsible for fundamental credit research into bonds and loans from European corporate issuers as directed by research management. Experience covering non-financial industry sectors would be expected.

The base

We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We’re close to our clients, in the heart of the UK’s financial centre and we have everything we need to work flexibly.

The team

Schroders Investment Management's Credit Research team undertakes corporate credit analysis of a wide universe of non-government bond issuers. Our aim is to provide benchmark beating performance to our portfolio managers by providing both accurate fundamental credit research and relative value recommendations to be adopted into by our team of portfolio managers.

The Credit Research team consists of around 35 research specialists, each undertaking industry and issuer analysis in three broad regions – America, EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa) and Asia. The London-based EMEA team currently consists of thirteen analysts covering investment grade, high yield and loan issuers across the full range of industry sectors.

What you'll do

The basis of the role is to be able to analyse and understand the business, financial and sustainability risk profiles of the companies under coverage as well as the legal structure of their debt securities. An overall assessment of risk and valuation of these factors will then be communicated to the Schroders credit PMs using our proprietary framework. The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a team with our entire desk to deliver alpha generating investment ideas for clients.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

  • Experience in a single name investment environment
  • Proven investment and/or financial analysis experience at the corporate entity level
  • A strong academic record, most likely a first degree or upper-second with post-graduate degree and/or demonstrated progress through the CFA system
  • Demonstrated research capability in educational history and/or previous work experience.
