The Company
My client is a fast-growing player within the UK SME lending space, gearing up for their next round of investment with the ambition to scale and maintain the high level of quality and service that is already gaining them repeat business and strong relationships within the industry.
They have built a strong product offering that genuinely helps small businesses access funding, and they are doing it well - evidenced by the traction they are already seeing with clients. The team is lean, high-performing and moves quickly. This is a business on the right trajectory at the right time.
The Role
As a result of continued growth, they are looking to bring on a Credit Analyst / Underwriter to join the team. This person will have come from a UK SME fintech lender and will know what good looks like in a fast-paced, data-driven underwriting environment. Beyond processing applications, this is a role with real influence. You will contribute to the way the credit function is built and operated - refining workflows, feeding into risk frameworks and helping shape the decisioning process as the business scales. Builder mentality is as important as technical ability here.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
