Credit and Contracts Controller Full-Time (37.5 hours per week)

Salary £30,000 per annum
Home-based with occasional travel to our Shrewsbury office

Bethphage is a leading provider of supported living, residential care and day opportunities for adults with learning disabilities and complex needs. We work closely with Local Authorities and other stakeholders to deliver person-centred support that enables people to live fulfilling and independent lives.

We are now seeking an experienced and proactive Credit Controller to join our Finance team and play a key role in ensuring the effective collection of income and management of Local Authority funding arrangements.

The Role:

As our Credit Controller, you will be responsible for managing outstanding debt, maintaining Local Authority funding and Purchase Order arrangements, and resolving invoicing and payment queries. Working closely with colleagues across Finance and Operations, as well as external Local Authority contacts, you will help maximise cash flow, reduce aged debt and ensure services are funded and invoiced accurately.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong credit control experience who enjoys problem-solving, building relationships and working in a role where attention to detail is essential.

Key responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage outstanding debt to ensure payments are received within agreed timescales.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and investigate payment or invoicing discrepancies.
  • Allocate receipts accurately with Sage 50.
  • Build Strong working relationships with Local Authority finance teams, commissioners, brokerage teams and operational team.
  • Monitor and Maintain Local Authority funding arrangements and Purchase Orders.
  • Identify where additional funding or Purchase Orders are required and work with relevant stakeholders to secure them.
  • Resolve Purchase Order, Invoicing and payment queries promptly and professionally.
  • Monitor aged debt and act to minimise overdue balances.
  • Maintain accurate records of credit control activities and customer accounts status.
  • Support the review of funding arrangements to ensure services delivered align with approved funding and invoiced accounts.
  • Escalate unresolved debt, funding or contractual issues where appropriate.
  • Maintain the Contracted Support Hours database and check that the rota hours match.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Essential

  • Previous credit control experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong reconciliation and investigation skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building abilities.
  • Ability to organise, prioritise and manage a varied workload.
  • Proficient in Excel and Finance systems.
  • Experience working with Local Authority funding arrangements and systems.
  • Experience of Sage 50 accounts.
  • Understanding of social care funding processes.
