About the Role

We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Credit Control Assistant to join our friendly Finance team. This is an entry-level position with full training provided, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to develop a career in finance. You'll work closely with our Credit Manager, learning all aspects of Accounts Receivable and Credit Control while gaining valuable experience in a supportive team environment. Our Finance team consists of eight people, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to learn, ask questions and develop your skills.

  • Supporting the day-to-day management of the sales ledger.
  • Contacting UK and international customers by telephone, email and letter to collect outstanding payments.
  • Building positive relationships with customers and internal teams.
  • Posting customer payments and allocating cash receipts.
  • Investigating and resolving invoice queries.
  • Assisting with raising credit notes for customer accounts, returns and disputes.
  • Setting up new customer accounts in line with company procedures.
  • Assisting with credit checks, reviewing payment histories and obtaining trade references.
  • Reconciling customer accounts.
  • Supporting payment plan arrangements under the guidance of the Credit Manager.
  • Helping ensure company credit policies and financial controls are followed.
  • Attending weekly debtor meetings.
  • Assisting with a variety of finance projects as required.

What We're Looking For:

No previous Credit Control experience is necessary—we'll provide full training.

We're looking for someone who has:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English at Grade 5/C or above.
  • Confidence speaking to customers on the telephone.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Basic Microsoft Office and Excel skills, with an eagerness to develop further.
  • Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive approach to solving problems.
