Credit Control Team Leader
Location: Chelmsford, UK
Working Arrangement: Hybrid
Overview
Our client, an international insurance business, is looking for a Credit Control Team Leader to manage and develop a team responsible for debt collection, settlement and allocation.
You will oversee day-to-day credit control activity, set and monitor collection targets, reduce outstanding debt and support the team with complex issues and escalations. The role combines hands-on credit control expertise with people management, stakeholder management and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the credit control team, maintaining high standards of performance and quality.
- Set monthly collection targets and monitor individual and team performance.
- Track aged debt, potential bad debt and cash collection issues to maximise recovery.
- Act as the first point of escalation for day-to-day problems and support team members with complex issues.
- Ensure unsettled debt is collected accurately and within required timescales.
- Produce detailed monthly reports covering team performance, achievements and areas of concern.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management.
- Develop credit control strategies aligned with business objectives and monitor adherence to internal processes and service standards.
- Promote continuous improvement, accountability and collaboration across the team.

Requirements
- Proven team management experience, with a strong focus on quality and performance.
- Experience working within credit control.
- Customer service experience and experience managing complex relationships.
- Strong stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working with senior management.
