Credit Control Team Leader

Our client, based in Coventry, is currently recruiting for a Credit Control Team Leader on a permanent contract.

Salary and Travel

  • Salary: £40,000 - £45,000
  • Travel: Required to the office two days per week

Requirements

  • Experience: Previous experience in a supervisory role
  • Skills: Confident user of MS Excel
  • Industry Background: Background in automotive or customer finance industry is desirable but not essential

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

  • Strong understanding of FCA regulations, vulnerable customer processes, and arrears management best practices

Duties

  • Taking ownership and control of the debt portfolio, ensuring effective collections processes are in place
  • Reviewing the cost of risk continuously against budget targets
  • Managing a team of five Credit Controllers
  • Ensuring the Head of Credit and other senior management stakeholders are aware of potential issues associated with any risky customers or any impacts to the Cost of Risk
  • Supporting the Head of Credit on effective debt collection strategies and processes
  • Acting as the first point of contact for complex customer issues and difficult collection scenarios
  • Supporting the Head of Credit to prepare and present performance reports, insights, and challenges to senior management in bi-monthly Credit Committee
  • Providing consistent, hands-on support for all day-to-day team queries and operational tasks, ensuring these are handled promptly in line with business priorities
  • Tracking team performance against targets (KPIs) and manage workloads, ensuring efficient and effective work
  • Working on third party relationships with key suppliers including repossession agents, external debt collection agents, and solicitors
  • Assisting management with reporting, data analysis, and overseeing accurate completion of administrative tasks

Working Hours

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
