Credit Control Team Leader

£40,000 | Hybrid | Manchester | 3 days office | Permanent

Robert Half is partnering with a growing and established business to recruit a Credit Control Team Leader to join its finance function.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced credit professional who enjoys leading people, working in a fast-paced environment and taking ownership of a high-volume ledger. You’ll manage a team of 6-10 Credit Controllers, with responsibility for performance, development, cash collection and the overall effectiveness of the credit control function. You’ll also work closely with the Head of Credit and act as an escalation point for more complex customer and credit matters.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead, motivate and develop a team of 6-10 Credit Controllers.
  • Set and monitor individual and team collection targets and KPIs.
  • Carry out regular ledger reviews and drive improvements in cash collection.
  • Manage performance, including coaching, development and addressing underperformance.
  • Identify training and development opportunities across the team.
  • Manage escalated customer accounts and complex credit issues.
  • Assess and manage credit risk, taking action to minimise bad debt exposure.
  • Deal with invoice queries and ensure timely resolution.
  • Work with customers on payment plans and complex debt situations.
  • Ensure credit policies and processes are consistently followed.
  • Work with senior stakeholders and support the Head of Credit with wider process improvements.
  • Use Excel and financial data to identify trends, risks and opportunities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
