Credit Controller

Location: Chelmsford
Working Arrangement: Hybrid
Hours: Full-time

Overview

Our client, an international insurer, is seeking a Credit Controller to manage assigned accounts, support premium collection and ensure accurate cash allocation.

You will work closely with brokers, clients, underwriters and operational teams, resolving complex queries, reconciling accounts and identifying opportunities to improve credit control processes. The role combines hands-on account management with reporting, analysis and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of assigned accounts, ensuring outstanding premiums are collected and cash is allocated accurately.
  • Escalate outstanding debt and cash allocation issues to support prompt resolution.
  • Review and reconcile broker statements, identifying and resolving queries.
  • Analyse recurring broker queries and work with stakeholders to address underlying causes.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation and user guides.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data capture to support effective management information.
  • Analyse processes and related data, identify areas of concern and propose practical improvements.
  • Support operational teams with complex queries, guidance and additional training where required.

Requirements

  • High level of numeracy and literacy.
  • Customer service experience with strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to understand and analyse detailed reports.

Desirable

  • Insurance and/or credit control experience within the Commercial or London insurance market.
  • An additional language.
