Credit Controller

Location

Paisley (Hybrid, home and office)

Salary

£24,479 to £24,582 per annum, pro rata

Hours

35 per week, flexible.

Contract

Permanent

Could you be responsible for the collection of the British Red Cross's outstanding debt, ensuring correct allocation to customer accounts and liaison with other finance departments?

Could you ensure efficient and effective service to the British Red Cross whilst complying with all statutory regulations?

Could you achieve optimum debt collection performance by utilising your high level administrative and credit control skills?

What will a day in the life of a Credit Controller involve?

  • Chasing arrears by telephone & email & reconciling customer accounts.
  • Credit checking and investigation.
  • Producing and analysing debtor reports.
  • Preparation of journals where adjustments are necessary.
  • Liaise with Income Team staff and managers.
  • Proactively looking for process improvement opportunities, challenge conventional practices & adapts new methods & best practice.
  • To provide responses to any queries timeously and efficiently. In particular, to receive, action and resolve enquiries received from the Shared Service Support Desk.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to write appropriate email communications and responses.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, telephone manner & telephony skills.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and use of initiative.
  • Ability to work in a pressurised environment.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy both numeric and written.
  • Some experience in a high-volume credit control department.
  • Ability to gather information from relevant systems.
  • Proven experience in working with a computerised sales ledger.
  • Working knowledge of double entry book-keeping. (desirable)
  • Knowledge of Agresso financial systems. (desirable)
