About the Role

There's chasing debt, and there's actually controlling it. This business needs someone who can do the latter. They've got a large customer base, a busy ledger and plenty of invoices moving through the business. So, they need a Credit Controller who can take ownership of a portfolio and keep the cash moving.

You'll inherit a high-volume ledger and be trusted to manage it. Some customers will just need a reminder, others will have a query that's been bouncing around for weeks, some will promise payment on Friday and mysteriously become rather difficult to get hold of on Monday.

You'll need to know the difference.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a busy portfolio of customer accounts.
  • Collecting overdue debt by phone and email.
  • Investigating invoice disputes and getting them resolved.
  • Working with sales, operations, and customer service when something internally is holding up payment.
  • Allocating incoming cash and keeping customer accounts accurate.
  • Keeping proper records of conversations, disputes, and promises to pay.
  • Monitoring aged debt and identifying accounts that are becoming a problem.
  • Producing debtor reports and contributing to regular review meetings.
  • Agreeing payment plans within company policy.
  • Escalating the accounts that require a firmer approach.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Requirements

  • Previous credit control experience.
  • Preferably involving a reasonably chunky, high-volume ledger.
  • You'll need to be confident speaking to customers about money without turning every overdue invoice into an argument.
  • You'll be persistent, organised, and comfortable deciding where your attention is going to have the biggest impact.
  • Accuracy matters too. There's little point collecting the money if nobody can work out where you've allocated it.
  • You should therefore be comfortable with Excel, reconciliations, ledger maintenance, and reporting.
