Location: Peterborough (Office-Based)
Salary: £35,000

The Role

We are looking for a commercially minded, persuasive Credit Controller who enjoys building relationships, influencing outcomes, and taking ownership of cash collection.

This role is ideal for someone who is confident on the phone, comfortable negotiating payment in a professional manner. You will play a critical role in protecting cash flow while maintaining strong, long-term client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the credit control cycle, driving timely and consistent customer payments
  • Build strong, professional relationships with clients, using influence and rapport to secure payment commitments
  • Proactively chase overdue invoices through confident phone-based and written communication
  • Negotiate payment plans where appropriate, balancing commercial outcomes with customer retention
  • Monitor customer accounts and assess non-payment risk
  • Investigate and resolve invoice queries or disputes quickly to remove barriers to payment
  • Produce debtor reports as required
  • Collaborate with internal teams to generate solutions for continuous uninterrupted payments

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in credit control, accounts receivable, collections, or a similar role
  • Excellent telephone manner with the ability to handle challenging conversations professionally
  • Commercially minded, resilient, and results-driven
  • Able to balance relationship-building with firm credit control
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Confident using financial systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)

While experience in credit control or accounts receivable is desirable, we are far more interested in the right personality. Success in this role comes from confidence, persuasion, and the ability to build strong relationships and influence payment outcomes through effective communication.

Please note: This is a fully office-based role in Peterborough.
