Credit Controller

Location: Chelmsford

Working Arrangement: Hybrid

Contract: Full-time, permanent employment

Overview

Our client is an international insurance business seeking a Credit Controller to act as a link between offshore processing teams and internal and external stakeholders across insurance administration and credit control activities.

The role will take ownership of assigned accounts, support the timely collection and allocation of premium payments, resolve complex queries and help improve the capability of offshore processing teams through support and training.

The successful candidate will also maintain relationships with clients and brokers, identify operational issues and use reporting and process analysis to support continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Take full accountability for assigned accounts.
  • Ensure outstanding premium payments are collected promptly and cash is allocated accurately within core systems.
  • Escalate outstanding debt or cash issues where difficulties arise to support timely resolution.
  • Review broker statements and reconcile accounts.
  • Identify and raise account queries using internal systems and tools.
  • Analyse recurring broker queries and help develop strategies to reduce their frequency.
  • Develop, maintain and improve process documentation and user guides.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data capture across relevant processes.
  • Support effective management information through high-quality operational data.
  • Analyse processes and related data to identify areas of concern.
  • Propose practical solutions where process or operational issues are identified.
  • Resolve complex queries that cannot be completed by offshore processing teams.
  • Support and develop offshore team capability through guidance, training and refresher activity.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with clients, brokers, underwriters and underwriting support colleagues.

Requirements

  • High level of numeracy and literacy.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Good communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to understand and analyse detailed reports.

Desirable

  • Insurance and/or credit control experience within the Commercial or London insurance market.
  • An additional language.
