We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing business based in Kidlington that is seeking a confident and proactive Credit Controller / Finance Assistant to join their friendly finance team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role, combining credit control, customer interaction, and wider finance support responsibilities within a successful and supportive organisation.

The Role

As Credit Controller / Finance Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring customer accounts are managed effectively whilst providing excellent service throughout the collection process.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Proactively managing and collecting outstanding debt
  • Chasing overdue payments via telephone, email, and written correspondence
  • Maintaining and reconciling customer accounts
  • Allocating customer payments accurately
  • Producing regular debtor and aged debt reports
  • Issuing statements and supporting documentation
  • Investigating and resolving payment queries
  • Processing new credit account applications and conducting credit checks
  • Supporting the wider finance team with additional duties as required
  • Assisting in maintaining debtor days and cash flow targets

What We're Looking For

The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • ✅ Previous credit control and sales ledger experience
  • ✅ Strong communication and customer service skills
  • ✅ Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • ✅ Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • ✅ The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • ✅ A proactive approach and confidence dealing with customers over the phone
  • ✅ The ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Desirable

  • Sage 200 experience
  • Experience within a busy finance department
  • Knowledge of credit checks and account set-up processes
