Credit Controller (1-year Fixed Term Contract)

We are looking for a skilled credit controller who is capable of tackling legacy debt, taking ownership and can act autonomously.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and clear daily cash receipts and payments.
  • Reconcile cash received against client documentation and investigate discrepancies.
  • Liaise with external counterparties to resolve reconciliation, settlement and cash allocation issues.
  • Chase outstanding debt and reconcile technical balances to agreed positions.
  • Produce and distribute statements to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Process technical payments accurately and within agreed timelines.
  • Reconcile technical flows and agree debt settlements with internal stakeholders.
  • Attend regular meetings to discuss outstanding balances, settlements and reconciliation matters.
  • Provide data and reporting to support processing and operational requirements.
  • Work closely with IT teams to develop and enhance reporting solutions.
  • Partner with Operations, Technical Accounting and Underwriting teams to resolve issues impacting cash clearance and debt settlement.
  • Provide regular updates on settlement progress and outstanding balances.

Candidate Profile:

  • Proven Credit Control experience within an insurance, reinsurance or wider financial services environment.
  • Strong understanding of cash management, reconciliations, debt collection and settlement processes.
  • Experience investigating and resolving technical accounting and credit control queries.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Well-organised with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet tight deadlines.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive and adaptable approach.
  • Strong systems proficiency, including SAP, broker platforms, policy administration systems and Excel.
  • Relevant Accounting, Finance or Credit Control qualification preferred.
  • Degree educated desirable, but not essential.

Ideal Background:

This role would suit a Credit Controller, Insurance Credit Controller, Reinsurance Credit Controller, Technical Credit Controller, IBA Technician or Credit Control Analyst with experience managing technical cash flows, reconciliations, debt recovery and stakeholder relationships within the insurance market.
