About the opportunity
Via is supporting our client to recruit an experienced Credit Controller to join their finance team within an established international business.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong credit control or accounts receivable experience who enjoys taking ownership of customer accounts, building relationships and resolving payment issues. You'll manage your own portfolio of accounts, working closely with customers and internal teams to ensure invoices are paid on time, queries are resolved quickly and outstanding debt is kept under control.
What you'll be doing
- Manage a portfolio of customer accounts and take ownership of outstanding debt
- Proactively contact customers by phone and email to secure payment of overdue invoices
- Monitor aged debt and prioritise accounts requiring action
- Build positive relationships with customers while maintaining a firm and professional approach to collections
- Investigate and resolve invoice, payment and account queries
- Reconcile customer accounts and allocate payments accurately
- Agree and monitor payment arrangements where appropriate
- Identify potentially problematic accounts and escalate risks when necessary
- Maintain accurate records of collection activity and customer communication
- Work closely with finance, sales and customer-facing teams to resolve issues affecting payment
- Support month-end reporting and provide updates on outstanding debt and collection activity
- Help improve credit control processes and reduce overdue balances

What we're looking for
We're looking for someone with solid experience in credit control, accounts receivable or a similar finance role.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience managing your own portfolio of customer accounts
- Strong credit control, debt collection or accounts receivable experience
- Confidence speaking with customers and chasing outstanding payments
- Good negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Experience resolving invoice and account queries
- Strong attention to detail and accurate financial administration skills
- The ability to prioritise a busy workload and manage multiple accounts
- Confidence using finance, accounting or ERP systems
- A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of problems through to resolution

Experience within aviation, aerospace, manufacturing, distribution or another B2B environment could be useful, but isn't essential if you have strong transferable credit control experience. Candidates from B2B businesses with complex customer accounts or international customers are particularly encouraged to apply.
