Credit Controller
Bury • Full-Time, Mon-Fri • c. £28,500, depending on experience
Dunsters Farm is a third-generation family business that's grown into one of the fastest expanding foodservice suppliers in the North West and we're not slowing down. We supply schools, hospitals, care homes, cafés, and restaurants across the North of England, and behind every delivery is a finance team that keeps the business running accurately and on time.
Following the recent acquisition and integration of another business into the group, we're building a new, centralised finance function at our Bury head office and this Purchase Ledger Clerk role sits right at the heart of it. You'll have a Purchase Ledger Administrator supporting you day to day, freeing you up to focus on the parts of the role that need real judgement and experience.
What You'll Be Doing
- Ensuring customer accounts are kept up to date and in line with agreed credit terms
- Identifying accounts that are overdue or above credit limit, and contacting customers to request payment
- Following up on previously chased accounts and escalating appropriately where payment is not received
- Investigating and resolving queries or disputes that may be delaying payment, liaising with other teams as needed
- Placing accounts on stop where overdue balances remain unsettled following notice, and releasing accounts once resolved
- Maintaining accurate notes and records of collection activity for each account
- Producing and circulating weekly reports on flagged/overdue accounts
- Raising severely overdue accounts with the Management Accountant once internal escalation procedures have been exhausted, to agree next steps including external debt recovery or legal action where appropriate

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
