If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.
We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.
We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Credit Manager, Wholesale Credit Risk Management.
This role offers the opportunity to take on significant responsibility within HSBC’s second line of defence, evaluating and approving high-value lending proposals across CIB and select CMB clients (largely non-UK ring-fenced Bank clients). You’ll act as a subject matter expert, influencing policy, process improvements, and risk management both regionally and globally. The position provides exposure to senior management, cross-functional collaboration, and the chance to shape lending guidelines and risk appetite at industry and counterparty levels. You’ll also play a pivotal role in supporting sustainable finance initiatives, managing emerging risks, and contributing to the ongoing development of the offshore team, making this a dynamic, impactful, and highly visible position within the organisation.
As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
